Devices using Android version 10 or above and Guard Tour version 5.14+ require background location sharing to function correctly. Location sharing is necessary when you are signed in to the Guard Tour application but is not active when the application is closed.
Note: If background location is not shared all the time, no location information will be shared. This includes but is not limited to, any GPS location related to Tours, Checkpoints, and the Time Clock (Clock-Ins, Clock-Outs, and Breaks).
Activate background location sharing
To activate background location sharing:
- Tap and hold the TrackTik app until App Info is displayed
- Select Permissions
- Choose Location
- Select Allow all the time
For organizations using Mobile Device Management (MDM), contact your MDM administrator to enable the policy for location permissions.
Updating the TrackTik application while working
You may be prompted to update the TrackTik mobile application while the following work is in progress:
- You have an open checkpoint tour.
- You have an active site task.
- You have an active runsheet.
- You have a report in draft status.
If this is the case, you will receive a notification that will allow you to either:

Agree and adjust your location settings,
Or
- Remind me in 5 minutes which will allow you to complete your work before being prompted to adjust the settings again.
