Why is the TrackTik app asking for permissions when installing?

Mobile applications typically have settings that enable users to customize various aspects of the app. For instance, users can turn notifications on or off and set the frequency at which the app synchronizes data with cloud services. Please look at the configurations below to ensure that TrackTik functions effectively for your needs.

Required Permissions

  • Camera: Take pictures and record videos.
  • Location: Access your device's location. Learn about location settings.
  • Microphone: Record audio.
Example: create voice notes through the IVR audio reporting
  • Music and audio: Access music and other audio files on your device.
Example: store the audio created when using the Watch Mode feature

Storage

Photos are taken by the camera built into your phone and then natively stored on the device. Our application requests permission to access said photos and attach them directly to reports.

Data usage

A mobile user working full time (40 hours a week) using the phone at normal usage is around 750 MBs to 1 GB per month.
Enabling this option may cause issues receiving and sending data back to your portal.

Notifications

TrackTik requires some permissions to work. Please make sure app permissions are all enabled.

Viewing and allowing app permissions on iOS

The first time an app wants to use information from another app, you receive a request with an explanation. For example, a messaging app may request access to your contacts to find friends using the same app. After you grant or deny access, you can change access later.

  1. Go to Settings  > Privacy & Security.

  2. Tap a category of information, such as Calendars, Reminders, or Motion & Fitness.

A list of the apps that requested access appears. You can turn access on or off for any app on the list.

Review how apps are using the permissions you grant them

Go to Settings  > Privacy & Security, then tap App Privacy Report.

The App Privacy Report shows you how apps use the permissions you granted them and their network activity.

An App Privacy Report listing information about five apps for the category Data & Sensor Access, and information about three apps for the category App Network Activity.

To turn off the report and delete its data, go to Settings  > Privacy & Security > App Privacy Report, then tap Turn Off App Privacy Report. You can return to this Settings screen to turn the report on again.

Permission prompts depend on user settings. Once full access is granted, it won't be shown again. If the Allow Once is chosen, permission will be requested every time the app is reopened for location access.

Private Access to Photos on iOS

Gallery permissions can also show multiple pop-ups to manage access, but this is not true with TrackTik. Our app uses private access:
