Calendar view of overnight shifts

Overnight shifts—those that start on one day and end the next—can be tricky to spot.

Now it's easier to see and understand them in the calendar. New icons and tooltips help schedulers and managers quickly identify shifts that cross midnight and check if any pay or billing cutoffs apply.

What’s New

Shift Dates in Parentheses

Overnight shifts now show the full date range next to the shift time.

No Stretching Across Days

Overnight shifts stay on the day they start. Icons and tooltips show that they continue into the next day.

This behavior is governed by the setting:

Settings → General → Scheduling → “Remove shift overlap (Schedule view only)”
When enabled, overnight shifts will not stretch across days

💡 Important note: Overnight shifts will stretch across two calendar days only when few shifts are scheduled on the same day. For clients with many shifts per day, such as mid-market and enterprise, stretching is not recommended as it may hide other shifts and cause confusion.

Moon Icon

A moon icon 🌙 appears on overnight shifts. Hover over it to see more details.

Notebook Icon

If a shift has a pay or billing cutoff, a notebook icon 📓 will appear. Hover to view the cutoff time (e.g., “Pay cut off: 23:59”).

Where You’ll See It

  • Employee Schedule View
  • Site Schedule View

These changes apply to all overnight shifts automatically—no extra setup needed.
