Important: Tablets are not supported, including iPad, iPod Touch, and Android tablets. The app is not blocked from installing on a tablet (app stores don't restrict by form factor), so it may install and run — but TrackTik does not test on tablets. Navigation and UI differences from the larger screen layout are expected, and issues specific to tablet use are not eligible for a fix.

Known Limitations and Compatibility Notes
Android Version Considerations
- Android 9 or later is strongly recommended for stable performance and full feature compatibility.
- Android 8 introduced security restrictions affecting background services:
- If the TrackTik Guard Tour app is terminated, the device may stop sharing GPS coordinates with the portal
- This can result in degraded tracking functionality
Android 8 is supported but not recommended due to unstable background service management and increased occurrence of “TrackTik app has stopped” errors.
- Android 7.1 (end-of-life):
- Provides limited support only
- Not recommended for GPS-dependent deployments
- May experience similar or greater background service and tracking reliability issues as Android 8
Platform Changes & Fixes
- Android 11 introduced changes to how pictures are saved
- Resolved in TrackTik Guard Tour version 5.8.14 or later
Security Protocols
- HTTPS enforcement:
- Android: enforced since version 5.8.14
- iOS: enforced since version 3.8.1
Data Usage
A mobile user working full time (40 hours per week) under normal usage conditions will use approximately:
- 750 MB to 1 GB per month
Note about feature phones and "dumb phones"
- Phones that cannot install apps beyond those pre-installed and do not have access to the Google Play or App Store cannot run the TrackTik mobile app.
