Learn how to take a voluntary or involuntary break as a Guard Tour Mobile App user.
Overview
You can take a voluntary or involuntary break during your shift, depending on your employer's administrative needs.
Before you start
Here are some things you must do before you start:
- Ensure your administrator has set up the required break interruption rules in the Back Office Suite.
To learn more about setting up voluntary or involuntary break rules in Back Office Suite, check out Create voluntary or involuntary break interruption rules in Back Office Management Suite.
Take a voluntary or involuntary break in the Guard Tour Mobile App
You can take a voluntary or involuntary break, depending on the administrative needs of your employer.
To take a voluntary or involuntary break:
- Log into your Guard Tour Mobile App.
- Select the Current Break in-app message.
You must be on a scheduled break to see the in-app message.
- In the You are ending your break early modal, select one of three options:
-
End break voluntarily
Select this option to give consent that you're ending your break voluntarily. Choose Confirm or Cancel.
-
Work situation
Select this option to choose a work-related reason for ending your break early:-
Customer or site issue
As an employee, you may end your break prematurely to provide customer or site-related assistance. For example, if an elevator malfunction occurs at a customer's site, you may decide to end your break sooner to assist. -
NOT customer or site related
This option isn't specific to a customer or a site, but it's still work-related. For example, as an employee, your patrol vehicle gets a flat tire, which needs to be worked on or replaced to maintain your patrol schedule. -
Other involuntary break end
This is an involuntary reason not covered by the previous descriptions. For example, as an employee, the police pull you over to check your license or health officials contact you to go to the nearest clinic to get your vaccination, and it's covered under your employer's policy.
